Dermapen & Eclipse Micropen
What is Micro-Needling?
Dermapen & Eclipse
Micro-needling is a customized treatment that is performed by gently gliding the
pen over the contours of the face, neck, decolletage (chest) or body. It creates
several hundred microscopic vertical channels into the dermis. This minimally invasive treatment is designed
to stimulate your skin’s ability to repair itself to yield a natural production
of new collagen and elastin.
treatment is chosen to improve the
appearance of large pores, acne scars, surgical scars, a variety of
stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles and other skin texture issues. This

How does it compare to lasers?
The Micro-Pen initiates an injury
response using micro-needling – a technique that creates hundreds of temporary
micro channels or openings in the skin without injuring the skin using THERMAL ENERGY or skin
removal. These are called fractionated injuries.
Clinical studies have shown
professional micro-needling to be MORE effective than ablative treatments like
laser resurfacing and just as effective as
non-ablative treatments like IPL, CO2 laser, and Fraxel in stimulating collagen
and elastin production to thicken the skin thereby reducing wrinkles and
Medical micro-needling, when
properly done and combined with effective skin care products and treatments have been shown to give as good or better results than
laser or Fraxel treatments.... and at a fraction of the cost!
Compared to fractionated
laser treatments, micro-needling not only spares the epidermis, it strengthens
The result is thicker,
healthier looking skin.
Micro-Neeling & Acne/various Scars?
A scar is
the result from wound repair in the skin. The skin will attempt to heal by
replacing normal skin after the injury with
fibrous tissue. The scar tissue results as the collagen becomes deformed and
thickens. All scar tissue is
composed of the same collagen as the tissue it has replaced, but the
composition is different . Instead of a basket-weave formation of fibers,
the collagen in scar tissue is aligned in a single direction resulting in a
pronounced and thicker appearance.
Acne scars are actually a loss of skin integrity that causes a breakdown of the adjacent tissue that leads to a depression.
How does Micro-Needling help w/ Scars?
Micro-Needling is specifically geared for remodeling scars, textural issues
and skin resurfacing.
This treatment can be
adjusted so that the needles penetrate up to 2.5 mm deep into the dermis
(dermal/deep layer) where acne scars lie. These scars are then fragmented resulting in a break down of the fibrous and uneven scar tissue. The process of scar remodeling occurs and can provide
drastic results improving the appearances of the acne scars.
micro-injury caused by Micro-Pen needling is much deeper than lasers can go, due
to its ability to penetrate deeply while at the same time transmitting no heat or
risk for burns it is a very safe
treatment for acne scars in all skin colors.
- stimulates growth of new tissue and nourish existing skin
- encourages your collagen and scars
- breaks up fibrous and uneven scar tissue
- help create new collagen & elastin (collagenesis)
- new capillary growth to improve blood supply to the area
- provides a healthy foundation for new skin growth.
How does In Office Micro-Needling compare to home derma-rolling devices?
Home dermal rollers have a barrel
with small needles. As the barrel is rolled across the skin the needle starts
at one point and slices through the skin coming out at the end point.
The Micro-Pen is a vertical
micro-needling device versus a barrel rolling device.
Micro-Pen uses a sterile
disposable cartridge with straight needles to penetrate specifically at a
90-degree angle. It uses a stamp like motion to avoid the slicing action. The Pen
treatment delivers variable speeds and adjustable depths which allows the
provider to create a multitude of micro-channels other than a home roller Micro-Needling allows the ability to treat the skin deeper in the dermis with more accuracy and
The lightweight device allows the provider to specifically target
delicate areas around the eyes, nose and mouth safely that dermal rollers
In addition, the home dermal rollers
are not able to be sanitized properly; they can bend, break, rust and could
result in a possible scarring or infection with improper re-use.
